How Can YOU Support Our Mission?

Join us in fighting poor mental health and building strong, supportive communities!

Many people, from all walks of life and during all life stages, experience mental health and wellbeing challenges. We know that expressive or therapeutic writing - aka journaling - is a proven, easy-to-access way to manage these challenges. Through our free or low-cost workshops, courses and outreach programmes, Journaling Matters CIC aims to improve outcomes across all affected communities.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to provide the spaces, tools and resources so that everyone can learn to manage their mental wellbeing better, one journal page at a time.

Why We Need Your Help

The demand for mental health support has never been greater. However, many primary care services are under increasing pressure from budget cuts. We aim to fill the gap for those who fall short of criteria for professional help, or cannot afford private therapy. We also aim to spread the word far and wide about how the powerful practice of journaling can make such a difference to people's lives - from the smallest improvement to the biggest gains. We cannot do it alone, however, and that's why we need your help. Your generous support is vital to helping us meet the growing needs of our community.

How Your Contribution Makes a Difference

Every pound you give goes directly toward making journaling for mental wellbeing accessible to those who need it most. Here’s what your support can do:

  • £5 – Provides a set of journaling prompts and resources for someone who’s struggling with their mental health, giving them an immediate tool for self-support.

  • £10 – Buys the materials for one participant to take part in a guided journaling activity, whether in a workshop or an outreach session in the community.

  • £20Funds a place for someone who could not otherwise afford to attend one of our group workshops, giving them a safe space to reflect and heal.

  • £50 – Helps us reach more people through local outreach and awareness campaigns, spreading the message that journaling can make a real difference to mental wellbeing.

  • £100 – Sponsors a full half-day workshop for a small group of vulnerable individuals, providing practical tools for stress relief, emotional resilience, and self-expression.

Our Impact

This year (2024-2025) we have helped 10 young people with a free junk-journaling session. See the video above for the wonderful feedback we received. We've also helped a community of neurodivergent people develop a journaling habit through a 6-week workshop with our partner NeuroRocket and supported a futher 10 people via our one-off journaling workshop for partner ThriveBridge. In addition to this, we have reached over 30 people via our free online journaling taster workshops.
