Support creative wellbeing in your local community

Would you like to support creative wellbeing in your community?

Journaling Matters CIC helps people use journaling, expressive writing and creativity to support their mental health, confidence and self-expression. Our workshops and community projects create gentle, welcoming spaces where people can reflect, connect and explore journaling in a way that works for them.

We are looking for volunteers who can help us make our sessions friendly, inclusive and well-supported.

You do not need to be an experienced writer, artist or journal keeper. What matters most is being kind, reliable, patient and interested in supporting people.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Journaling Workshop Support Volunteer

Our workshop support volunteers help us deliver creative journaling and wellbeing sessions in the community.

This may include:

  • helping set up and pack away materials

  • welcoming participants

  • supporting simple creative activities

  • helping with refreshments

  • offering gentle encouragement

  • supporting the facilitator during the session

  • helping create a calm, friendly and inclusive atmosphere

 

Volunteers are not expected to provide counselling, therapy or mental health advice. Full guidance will be given, and volunteers will work within our safeguarding and confidentiality guidelines.

Who this role might suit

 

This opportunity could be a good fit for you if you are:

  • friendly, patient and approachable

  • interested in creativity, journaling, wellbeing or community work

  • happy to support people from different backgrounds

  • reliable and able to work as part of a small team

  • respectful of confidentiality and personal boundaries

 

No formal qualifications are needed.

Community Outreach Volunteer

Our Community Outreach Volunteer will liase with local organisations and communities to help us spread the word about journaling as a simple, accessible tool for wellbeing.

This may include:

  • researching local community groups, charities, schools, colleges, wellbeing organisations and potential partners

  • helping distribute flyers, posters or information about our workshops

  • supporting us at community events, fairs or information stalls

  • talking to people about what Journaling Matters CIC does

  • helping identify groups who may benefit from journaling workshops

  • supporting simple follow-up admin, such as recording contacts or enquiries

  • helping us build positive relationships in the local community

Who this role might suit

This opportunity could be a good fit for you if you are:

  • friendly, confident and approachable

  • interested in community wellbeing, creativity or mental health

  • happy to speak to local people and organisations

  • organised and reliable

  • comfortable helping with simple research or admin

  • passionate about making support more accessible

You do not need formal experience in outreach or marketing. Volunteers will be fully supported and will not be expected to provide counselling, therapy or mental health advice.
